Description

Imam Ibn al-Jawzi, after reading Al-Asbahani’s monumental Al-Hilyat al-Awliya, decided to pen an abridgment—removing chains of transmission to shorten the length, omitting weak or doubtful reports, and refining the narration style. The result was his distinguished and celebrated work, Sifat al-Safwah (Ranks of the Elite).
