A man is a shepherd and is responsible for his family. A woman is a shepherd in her husbands house and she is responsible for her flock. The servant is a shepherd regarding the wealth of his master, thus responsible for his flock.

My Father gave me a gift so Amra binti Rawahah said, I will not be happy until you make the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) a witness to this. Then the messenger of Allah (pbuh) came and so he said, I gave my son from Amra Binti Rawahah a gift, but she ordered me to tell you oh Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) replied, Did you give the rest of your children the same as this.

The man replied, No. The Messenger of Allah said, Fear Allah and be fair to all your children. So he went and took back the gift.
