Description

Hypocrisy is among the most dangerous spiritual diseases, subtle in nature yet devastating in its effects. A person’s heart may be filled with it without realizing, thinking he is doing good while in reality he is spreading corruption.

This concise treatise exposes the traits and characteristics of the hypocrites as outlined in the Qur’an and Sunnah, with two beneficial appendices. Allah has revealed in the Qur’an the reality of the hypocrites, their hidden plots, their corrupted beliefs, and the harm they bring upon the Muslim community. In the beginning of Surah al-Baqarah, Allah divides mankind into three groups: the believers, the disbelievers, and the hypocrites—mentioning thirteen verses about the hypocrites, highlighting their abundance and immense harm.

The hypocrites are especially dangerous because they conceal themselves within the Muslim community, pretending to aid Islam while in truth working against it. By learning their qualities, the believer can safeguard himself, recognize their deception, and protect his faith from being corrupted.
